Sensory-Motor Handwriting Groups

5 Week Virtual Summer Program (Saturdays!)

Learn More

Handwriting is more than just holding a writing tool. It requires so many underlying skills. The ability to write encompasses cognitive perceptual skills which include letter identification, letter perception, orientation to printed language, attention to task, ability to follow instructions, memory (visual, auditory, and motor) and motor sequencing skills.  It requires adequate postural stability, strength and coordination.  Although, this program is NOT a substitute for therapy, it incorporates sensory-motor experiences to facilitate attention to task as well as body awareness, spatial awareness and motor planning skills. This program also facilitates developing core and upper body strengthening needed to help control little muscles of the body (i.e. hands). Sensory-motor activities are used to facilitate movement for improved motor control and used to calm little bodies and minds for focused attention.

Our Sensory-Motor Handwriting Program takes place over the course of three 6 week cycles from January to June and there are 3 developmental age groups. Summer Classes are NOW available via Tele-service using Microsoft Teams. Children are taught at a gradual pace in effort to allow them the support they may need to develop the foundation for handwriting!

My daughter loves coming to this program. On her report card, her handwriting improved from a grade 1 to a 3!

I had my son in the program last year.  He made amazing improvement in his handwriting.   I will be signing up his younger brother for next year's cycles.

I see a lot more confidence in my son.  I think he surprised himself that he is able to write better than he thought he ever could.

My son really enjoys this handwriting program!  I like that you guys make it fun.  He looks forward to the obstacle courses and exercises and enjoys learning the cursive method.
